THE DOJO
(Training hall)
The word Dojo literally translates as "The Place"
(Jo) where one follows and seeks "The Way" (Do). In this case, the Dojo is the
place where one follows the way of Karate. The Dojo may be any area in which
Karate is practiced.
The Utica Dojo a 2,400 sq. ft. facility with fully
matted training area used for the learning of falling, rolling, throwing,
sweeping, takedown, escaping, grappling and reverse joint techniques.
Bogu-Armor
"Karate without contact is like swimming on dry land!"

Bogu Gumite means "sparring with armor protection",
and is perhaps the most advanced and realistic type of karate fighting. During
Bogu Gumite a student with protective gear has an opportunity to really
demostrate the true power of Karate, without fear of injury to his opponent or
to himself.
This advanced form of fighting is part of Koei - Kan
training devised to teach students the reality of blocking and striking just as
if they were engaged is life and death combat. The art of Bogu Gumite, when
developed to its fullest potential, is a true test of a student's striking,
punching and kicking skills.
